Our work environment is often where we play in our spare time. Find out what staff are up to at Strathcona Park Lodge.

Snow to Surf

We are well represented again at this years Snow to Surf.  We have 5 teams from the Lodge competing and countless SPL alumni on other teams. For all SPL staff and alumni lets meet between 3:30-4:00 at the bleachers for a group photo.

Put your name in one the registry books on top of the mountains of Strathcona Provincial Park. It can be challenging, but it is worth it. This photo is courtesy of Amanda Goodhue.

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity…”  John Muir

The staff at Play! We really love what we do and when we aren't sharing the outdoors with you we are going on our own adventures. This photo was taken by Dan Kilburn while on a white water kayaking trip down the lower Gold River.

Wildlife at Burman River

Staff have been enjoying the wonderful weather exploring all over Vancouver Island. A popular staff/school trip this year has been a visit to Burman River which has been busy with Whales, Seals, Sea Lions, Bears and more. This is a picture of the Salmon swimming up the Gold River on the start of a visit to the Burman River.

Best of luck to Richard Dugas and Amy Heath who started their bike across Canada last week.  This will be the third time for Richard as he has done it East to West and West to East.  Starting in St. Johns they will be making their way back to Strathcona Park Lodge & Outdoor Education Centre in August!
