Every building has a story to go with it from hippies constructing cottages to building being floated up river from the town of Campbell River. This is the interior of Cottage 15.

Mount Washington Chalet

Only 100 metres from the Hawk Chair at Mount Washington Alpine Resort, Strathcona Park Lodge's chalet at Mount Washington is warm, spacious and convenient for both summer and winter use.
The chalet has two units, The Golden Hinde and Elkhorn. Both sleep 12 people. For larger groups the units can be joined to sleep up to 24 people. The entire building is timber frame in style, using huge beams and posts and lots of windows. In-floor radiant heat gives the entire building a cozy feel that is relaxing and comforting after a day on the trails.
Winter
Mount Washington is one of the best ski resorts in the Pacific North West, frequently buried by the deepest snow in North America. It is one of British Columbia’s most popular downhill ski hills and home to 55 kilometres of world class cross country skiing. Several nations trained at Mount Washington in preparation for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, including ski and snowboard racers, skier cross competitors, paralympic athletes, biathlon and cross country skiers.
Strathcona’s Mount Washington Chalet is drive-up access with its own parking area on Henry Way, near the Hawk Chair parking lot. Once you’ve parked at the front door you won’t have to drive again until you leave. The cross country area can be reached via a skate and classic set trail that starts just beyond the lifts, 200 metres from the chalet. The Hawk, Green Chair and Poma lift are all a short walk across the road for day and night skiing. The Ozone Snow Tubing park is a five minute walk across a couple ski runs. A short tobogganing hill runs down the side of the chalet. Snowshoeing and ski touring in Strathcona Provincial Park starts just a few minutes away.
Summer
While best known for its winter attractions, Mount Washington is a summer playground too.
The melting snow at the ski hill exposes an ever improving mountain bike and hiking trail network. The mountain bike trails range from meandering flow rides that just about anyone could handle to steep and gnarly tracks that test the pros. The hiking is in open old growth forest and on board walks to lakes, view points and meadows.
While the Hawk Chair, just a short pedal from the Chalet, is mountain bike only, the Eagle Chair at the Alpine Lodge is open for scenic rides and hikes. The high speed lift is the fastest way to reach a summit on Vancouver Island. From the top of the lift a short hiking trail leads to the peak and an impressive view of the Coast Range and many of the Vancouver Island mountains towering over the Strait of Georgia. The base area is home to other attractions: a playground, frisbee golf course, interpretive walks and hikes. The Eagle Chair is a 15 minute walk from the Strathcona chalet.
In the other direction is Strathcona Provincial Park’s Paradise Meadows area, the easiest access and best mountain hiking on Vancouver Island. There are short boardwalk hikes around the open meadows, longer day trips to canyons and view points and this is the jumping off point to distant summits and multi-day backpack trips.
