Challenge By Choice is one of the core principles at Strathcona Park Lodge. Sometimes this is an internal battle and other times its the weather that forces you to make tough decisions. In this picture you see students perserving through the wind to camp at Rainbow Island.
This is a photo shot on Upper Campbell Lake. The mountain in the background is Mt. Myra with one of our guides taking out a Intergenerational group. It is common for first time visitors to the Lodge to ask, “Is that the ocean there?” Upper Campbell Lake and Buttle lake, which are joined, form the largest boddy of water on Vancouver Island offering plenty of paddling.

The Lodge, as it’s affectionately known, is forty minutes by car south west of Campbell River, close to the geographic centre of Vancouver Island. It sits just outside of Strathcona Provincial Park on Upper Campbell Lake and is ideally situated for exploring this exciting and little known area of Vancouver Island.
